Mechanical broom sweepers feature a large rotating broom that sweeps debris into a conveyor system depositing the material into a hopper. Used by a majority of municipalities, broom sweepers are highly effective at picking up debris in any weather condition and can remove hard, packed dirt and mud. An onboard water spraying system is used to control dust. Their powerful action makes broom sweepers highly effective for removing construction debris and granular materials such as millings and gravel.
There are two conveying systems to choose from: a chain-and-paddles system or conveyor belt. Chain-and-paddle systems are more effective at sweeping millings and coarse sand, while conveyor belts can handle large debris, such as plastic bottles, cans and branches.
